Today is moving day. We moved 185 miles west from Burton to Camping World in New Braunfels. Thursday we head to Corpus Christi for the last leg of our R&R. Why come back to New Braunfels and Camping World? Because it is moving day.
While at Potters Creek, we made a couple of trips to Camping World to get a few things that we needed for the Cedar Creek. Our ice maker quit on us after 18 months of continuous use and we ordered a new patio awning to replace the one that was worn out. For those who know how Camping World (CW) is laid out, one side is parts and service while the other side is new and used RV’s. Well, I went to parts while Carol went to RV’s.
We had been talking about doing this for a while now since riding in a 1-ton truck is pretty rough on Carol’s back. It did not take many miles on Louisiana or South Carolina roads for me to agree that a 1-ton truck is a rough ride. Carol had more confidence that a deal cold be made while I remained pessimistic. Our last trip to CW was to purchase a replacement faucet for our shower since ours sprung a leak. Once again, Carol went to RV while I went to parts. After completing my purchase, Carol called to ask me to come look at a motor home. OK, I’ll look.
I looked at this unit and could see the potential. I check all nooks and storage areas in the coach cabin area, then checked out all the storage bays below the coach. Last thing I check were the tires – 6 Michelin tires with date code 2312. I knew that meant these tires were manufactured 23rd week of 2012. These are brand new tires!
We returned to Potters Creek so I could fix the shower faucet. Carol and I sat around the camp fire and talked more about the coach. The more we talked, the more it looked like we could do this. We talked about what it wold take for us to accept a deal from CW. We decided to go one more time to CW to drive the motor home and have a serious chat with our sales dude. He understood what our requirements where and he know what we had. We place several conditions on them and shook hands at the end. No money was committed at this time – they just agreed to continue working on a deal for us.
After two days in Burton and several phone calls, we had a deal. When we left Burton this morning, we needed to make a trip to CW to sign papers. Our plan was to stop at CW, sign papers, then head to Corpus Christi. Next week we would come back to CW before heading to our winter job in Ledbetter. On the way to CW, our sales dude said our coach would be read for us to move into today. Cool.
That means we will be driving our new to us home to Corpus on Thursday – just in time for Laura to head out-of-town and just in time for us to finish our R&R.
More details will follow. For now, it is time to put on our moving clothes and get stuff moved from Cedar Creek to Winnebago.
Thanks for stopping by, y’all come back now.
